Simple to use but only lasted 7 months

I really liked the simplicity of the this electric kettle, just push down and the water will boil quickly and auto-shut off. Unfortunately only after 7 months of weekly use, it suddenly stopped working (the on light does not appear and kettle does not heat). I love the design but hesitant to purchase again if the longevity of the product is so short.

This is a simple but elegant design, with technical details that are very appealing to me. Base allows the cord to be stored so it's an appropriate length, kettle can sit down any way within the circle of the base without fumbling around. I have had this kettle for a while now and I am very satisfied with my purchase. A few reviews were not as great and I was very hesitant to order. It seemed that some people had rust problems after a few month. I leave the lid open to ensure that the moisture can escape after boiling water and I never leave any water in it. The hot kettle dries that way pretty quick and it prevents the rust.

Fast boiling time!

This was a recall replacement for the KitchenAid electric kettle we used to have. There was a recall on the handle although ours didn't seem to have any issues. But since it is a safety concern, KitchenAid gladly replaced our kettle even though it probably had years of life left. The new kettle we received works the same great way as our old kettle. Set your desired temperature and press start. Cheaper kettles only boiled water. Being able to set your desired temperature allows you to make a great cup of tea since boiling water can make some green and chrysanthemum teas bitter. Being able to set the temperature is the best feature you can have on an electric kettle. We've had it for around a year and is still going strong.

This unit was a warranty replacement because my pot was recalled. I love it the same as the first one. I love the "keep warm" button. I can start the pot and go take a shower and then steep my tea when I am done. I love that I can choose what temperature to bring the water to based on what kind of tea I am brewing. I am sad that they reduced the volume of the "all done" beep. I can barely hear it now unless I am right in the kitchen.

Great except one tiny defect

Positives: love how low the beeping volume is, sleek/simple/effective design, love being able to manually choose the temperature Negative: the circular lid is a little loose so when the kettle is upside down, unfortunately water leaks through the lid (instead of only coming out of the spout)

I love the Kettle and only gave it 4 stars because the whistle is very low and there is no way to make it louder The degrees is celsius instead of fahrenheit I wish they would change that The water boils quickly nice kettle

Love this kettle

I purchased this kettle last week and found so many reasons to love this kettle. Top on my list is that my elderly father claims it's not heavy and he no longer misses the tea cup. The pour spout is perfectly designed and no more leaks from the cap area as I has from many other brand tea kettles. It gets the water very hot, quickly.

Great little kettle

We are down sizing our household so we have been looking for smaller and equally reliable. This little kettle fits our needs perfectly. We have the red and it stands out nicely in our black/silver kitchen. We found it comes to boil quickly and does not keep boiling over like some of our previous kettles. Kettle is great.

Buyer Beware of Invalidating Warranty

A LARGE electrical safety tag was glued less than 3 inches of the working end of the plug, leaving a very sticky glue (resistant to removal methods)mega-gumming the working end of the cord. Customer service instructed me to stuff the tagged portion of the cord under the kettle base (impossible when plugged), warning the warranty could be invalided if I removed the tag. This flies in the face of the ad photo which shows no such tags and claims "a small footprint worthy of display". So buy this and live with a over-sized, unsightly, ill-placed tag or risk invalidating your warranty. (I am fine with safety tags, but not huge, ugly, ill-placed tags.)

Great, until it rusted

We loved this kettle until it started rusting both on the inside of the spout and inside of the kettle itself within 6 months of purchase. Very disappointed as we had thought we could trust the kitchenaid brand to provide quality appliances.

I just washed scrubbed mine out with white vinegar and also took a toothrush with vinegar to the lil' filter inside and rinsed well and it seems ok now. I;m hoping it lasts at least a week. I wouldn't mind having to that weekly but not daily. give it a try. i phoned them and they said if it doesn't work they will replace it. The waranty is 1 yr. Good luck to you and anyone else having this same odor problem.

I wish my kettle still worked

I really wanted to love this kettle

We registered for this kettle and received it as a wedding gift. My husband and I drink A LOT of tea (4-8 cups a day). I have stopped using the electric kettle because it leaves a very strong plastic and metallic taste. I am not sure if we got a defective kettle or if this is the norm with this product. I want to return it to the store I bought it from but am not sure they will take it. Does anyone know whether kitcheaid would replace it for us?

Plastic taste even after months of use

This kettle was purchased for use in our small company office, hoping the higher price tag would indicate a higher quality product capable of providing years of service. We have had it for about 3 months now, and even after boiling 5+ kettles full of water each day, a strong plastic taste (and smell) still remains in the water. This is especially bad for herbal tea. Even though the build quality, look, and feel of the kettle seem very nice, I cannot recommend it due to the taste of the water.

Hot red Kettle

One of the few kettles that my wife's arthritic hands found easy to manoveur. The lid is a little firm to remove but that is for safety reasons due to the ergonomically friendly position of the handle. Boils quickly and takes up a small foot print on you counter. The choice of 3 colors made it easy to find one that Co ordination with our kitchen.Slightly higher priced but the quality is there and it is even made in North America

Great little kettle but....

This kettle works great and has a small footprint on kitchen countertop. BUT after only a few months use, has started to rust on the top, both on the body rim and the lid. Not the performance I expect from a KitchenAid product. Spend a little more on this product, maybe rustproof ring around the top of the body, how much more could that cost you. Id pay a little more to have it last more than a few months.

So sad

I bought this kettle about one year ago. I love my kettle. I'm English and I drink about 6 - 10 cups of tea, a day. It heats up quickly which I like, but, during the heating process it makes a loud popping sound! This past weekend it died on me! Just quit working, for absolutely no reason. I am very saddened by this. I was looking forward to a long lasting relationship with my Kitchen Aid Kettle. I paid more money for this particular kettle than any other kettle I've ever bought. Over the years I've bought a lot of kettles, non of which were the caliber of Kitchen Aid! I'm so sad.

Disappointed

I bought this kettle a couple of week ago. I liked the design and was happy to receive the kettle. I first boiled water, as instructed, and emptied it. The I boiled water for tea. I drank the tea and could taste the plastic. The I became dizzy and my head had a numbing sensation. I opened the lid on the kettle, and could smell the plastic. So I left the lid open to let the plastic air out. The next day I boiled some more water for tea, and I could taste and smell the plastic. Also, had the same reaction--dizziness and numbness to the head. With regret I had to return the kettle. My health comes first.

I love this tea kettle, the look fits well into my primitive colonial kitchen, it heats up fast, and it's a sturdy kennel. My only complaint about this appliance is that I wish it were larger. Since we use this every day for tea, cocoa, and our use it while canning, it would be nice if I didn't have to fill it so many times a day.
