Faulty LEDs. Avoid.

Looks nice. Fan is quite loud. Cleaning is difficult. The biggest issue is that we've had to replace the LED transformer twice now. A $200-300 service call. Not acceptable for a $1400 hood. I will be replacing the hood with something other than a KitchenAid. Its unfortunate a premium brand will not stand behind a defective product.

Lights Blink Erratically

It works great with nice features, but the section of ™€œStainless Steele™€ that goes from the mid section of the vent to the ceiling looks like crap and cheap. It doesn't match the bottom portion of the vent and hood, which does look like an upgrade appliance.

I purchase this hood for our kitchen remodel. Overall, looks good, I didn™€™t not vent to outside. Purchased charcoal filters. Little difficult to secure but did finally snap in. The only problem, with the charcoal filters in place causes the internal plug to power the controls was short, it doesn™€™t snap into place. Had to open the hood to see if the wire could be lengthened but unable to get that done. Looks like a design flaw from the company. Had to get an electrician to secure it and add some length. Plug connects fine without the charcoal filters in place. Recommend outside venting instead of using filters.

This is a good looking and working hood. Bi can not rate it a 5 because it lacks the ability to dim the light on the hood. If this was dimmable it would be used much more, especially at night. The current light is quite bright which is excellent for cooking but not much else.

We bought this a while ago, and just installed it. It looks terrific, we haven't used it yet since the kitchen isn't completed. The look is exactly what we were going for though. I'll update my review once we start using it. We love that it was both non-vented and direct vented. We thought we'd have to go with non-vented, but in a happy change we were able to direct vent it in the end.

I selected this and 3 other KA products 2 years ago for a home build, purchased and ordered them in November 2021 (deadline Jan '22), and was invoiced in July 2022. The home was being built and couldn't have accepted appliances until July '22. I expected to get the rebate on the 4 items for $100 each, but because I was invoiced in 7/22, my rebate was declined. Really, I spent some $13K+ on appliances and declined $400 because I didn't have a home to place the appliances until July '22? If I could have taken them sooner I would have. And I have a brand new Kitchen Aid dishwasher that didn't work on the first run and have to wait 3 weeks for a service call! I will never buy Kitchen Aid again because of this ticky tack bs, and lousy customer service.

Good product but save yourself aggravation and hire a pro installer.. Issues: You need a very small Torx driver. The one with the package is too big and won™€™t fit the screws. You will use this Torx driver a lot. The packing includes two wood blocks screwed to the back of the housing. See issue 1, since parts have to be removed to get at the screws holding the blocks. The installation manual is wrong. Do not drill 7/16 holes into drywall for the anchors. Go with a smaller drill size else be ready to hit the hardware store for new anchors. If you have lower ceiling, mount the fan at a height where you don™€™t need to cut the chimney steel. As mentioned in the title, hire a pro and save headaches. Now that mine is finally installed, it looks good, quiet fan and good air removal.

Vented or non vented?

I bought this hood to replace an existing non vented hood. My home has two stories and there is no way to vent through the roof. The one I used to have, had a decorative wooden cover and the build up on it was too hard to clean. I am hoping that this one will be easier to keep clean. The vents are up at the top on the sides of the chimney. If you need a non venting hood, you must order the recirculation kit to go with this model. It comes with two carbon filters which filter the air and recirculates it into the kitchen.I don't think all hoods come with the carbon filters. I haven't used it much yet but I do notice on one side of the chimney, a light coating of black dust from the filter. I will make sure it is installed correctly before I worry about that. It could be a one time thing from the first use. We will see. The metal filters can be put into the dishwasher to clean which is a plus. On the first level, it operates fairly quietly but at a 2 or 3 it is like most any other and quite noisy. I do like the look and have had success with KitchenAid products before.

Looked great out of box BUT as appliance installers were mounting it, they noticed a recirculating vent and charcoal filter were not included. We scoured the internet and manuals to find the proper parts #s. Extremely difficult. Recirculating vent is out of stock everywhere, to include the kitchen aid website. Customer service just referred me to third party vendors to locate the parts. If I would have known these were needed i would have bought them all together, now I have a $1,000 inoperable unit on our wall. Careful purchasing because they don't tell you up front that you need accessories, then you are left to try to find them on the internet.

Within one week the lights on the fan stopped working. After waiting 6 weeks for new bulbs to come from the factory we discovered that it wasn™€™t the bulbs it was faulty wiring.

Major quality control/damage issues.

There is a major quality control and shipping/handling issues. I am now waiting for my FOURTH Hood Fan to arrive. The first was damaged/dented. The second had a manufacturing defect that made it impossible to install. The third was also damaged/dented. Sadly, I have roughed in my kitchen remodel with this product so I can't change to another product at this time. Very disappointing quality for the price.
