The freezer capacity is smaller than our prior Whirlpool primarily due to the ice maker/bin placement inside the freezer section rather than on the door. It also seems that the width of the freezer section is smaller. Unfortunately, we need more freezer space than refrigerator space.

The store advertised the refrigerator as 21.4 cubic feet, but the dimensions listed by Whirlpool state that it is 21 cubic feet. Please confirm which capacity is correct. Model Number Clarification My model number includes a letter and two numbers at the end of the basic model number: WRS321SDHZ14. What do the ™€œZ™€ and ™€œ14™€ indicate? Owner™€™s Manual and Version Details The owner™€™s manual is titled ™€œSide-by-Side Refrigerator,™€ but it does not clearly state whether it applies specifically to model WRS321SDHZ. The ice and water dispensers work poorly. They both leave water and ice residue which needs to be wiped up constantly. The gasket on the freezer did not sit properly. We had one unit replaced because your technician said there was a misalignment of a door. However the replacement also had a gasket which leaked. I searched YouTube and used a hairblower to soften the gasket to hopefully remedy the problem. We shall wait and see how it goes.

It™€™s not a big refrigerator for its size. Lots of space and shelves. Ice maker could be bigger and produce more cubes faster. It took 3 days before it started producing ice. Then the refrigeration side is way too cold, freezing anything in the back of the fridge and exploding cans. Trying to find the thermometer is not easy still looking.

Dispenses Room Temperature Water from Door Dispens

The refrigerator is as described with the exception of the in-the-door water dispenser. The water is dispensed no colder than 63 degrees. We purchased the refrigerator fully expecting we would get cold water from the door dispenser. The Users Manual, pg 13 under Water and Ice Dispensers section, states ™€œAllow 24 hours for the refrigerator to cool down and chill water.™€ We had a repairman come out four times to try to alleviate the problem. Each time the repairman was on the phone with a Whirlpool technician who instructed the repairman with steps to do to fix the problem. The final consensus was the problem is a design issue. When we reached out to the appliance store we purchased the unit from and asked for a full refund to apply to a different model, they contacted Whirlpool to resolve the issue. Whirlpool™€™s response was: ™€œThere is nothing in the refrigerator that would warm the water, and the unit is functioning as designed.™€ We are stuck with a refrigerator that does not function properly. Totally misleading and not backed by Whirlpool!!! 9/16/2026 - After chatting with Whirlpool as suggested in their response (I could not reach Customer Service to discuss this at the phone number provided), I was told: ™€œI see that our technical support has been involved with the technician in your home and it was determined that the appliance is working as designed. This model does not have a system to cool the water. My apologies, the manufacturer's warranty would only cover repairs for functional failures. Since the appliance is working as designed, there is not assistance that we can provide.™€ REALLY????!!!! A refrigerator does not have a system to cool the water??? The users manual states to allow 24 hrs for the water to chill. Who would ever purchase a refrigerator that dispenses warm water? We would never have purchased this refrigerator if we had known it would dispense warm water. We asked to trade it in on a different Whirlpool refrigerator, to have the purchase price applied toward another model. But we were denied that through the appliance company we purchased it from because Whirlpool would not stand behind the unit.

this refrigerator runs almost constantly and the noise it makes easily heard 10ft away. The water filter is at the bottom and just pops in with a plastic grill door that latches in a plastic grill doubt that will last very long. The shelving in the refrigerator and freezer section is not adjustable. Since it runs almost continually it is not energy efficient. I should of mot purchased.

our old fridge died last year so i purchased this model from a local national name home improvement store. It is the absolute worst refrigerator i have ever owned. The shelves are non adjustable, the internal capacity is less than our previous refrigerator with the same outside dimensions, items will freeze solid on the top shelf of the refrigerator side and the lower shelves will still be too warm, the ice dispenser constantly clogs but only when this thing decides to make ice. Half the time the bin is empty because the ice maker runs so slow. The cubes will be sitting in the tray frozen solid for hours before it finally drops them into the bucket. The freezer also either freezes ice cream so solid you cant dip it or so soft its like softserve out of a dispenser. In fact, the only marginally good thing about this is the little door rack that holds 6 beverage cans. Never again.

With a limited space, this was about the only model fridge we could buy. Mostly OK but, VERY frustrating that items placed anywhere near the "white box" on the top shelf will be frozen. Out of the 4 bars of the chill level (4 being the coldest) we keep it at 2. Sodas,juice, cream, have been lost to this problem. After seeing that others have complained with this same issue, why hasn't it been addressed?

Shelf design flaw

I love the look inside and out of this refrigerator. It has a lot more room than my older model. One flaw in the design is the square door shelves; within two days I tried to shut the door with the crisper drawer still open and ended up with a crack in the crisper drawer. I checked the shelves in my old model and various other store brands, this was the only model I saw with the square shelves, all others are rounded. I ordered a new drawer for $150. Please take a second look at this design and make appropriate changes.

The appliance is good. It takes a long time to make ice. We have had to go out and purchase bags of ice. We do go through a lot of it but compared to our old Whirlpool refrigerator it seems it only makes about 50% of the ice We took the top shelf out because there wasn't enough room for big stuff, gallon of milk and other bigger items.

I can't say much because I just got my side-by-side last week. I do like the looks of it and so far, I like everything else. The sealing on the fridge is very good, so much better than my last fridge. I love the shelving; it is so nice. I have two crisper drawers and a deli draw and a place for my butter in the door. Everything is well within reach, and I love the freezer section. The ice maker is very nice and the ice and water in the door is great. We love the crushed ice feature. There's plenty of room on both sides. So far, it's been great.

I did not like the fact that the refrigerator did not have adjustable shelves. I could not even get a quart of milk on the top shelf without removing the shelf which I had to store on top of the first crisper drawer. Another disappointment was the number of crisper drawers. Did not need three crisper drawers. One large one would have been sufficient. I would have preferred another shelf. Also, the ability to turn the ice maker on and off is hard to do without getting on a step ladder to see what I am doing.

After 25 years, I had to replace my old refrigerator. But finding one that would fit into the existing cabinet space proved daunting! Fortunately, this Whirlpool did so and had all of the features that I needed, such as an ice maker and water dispenser. The freezer space is a bit narrow, but I don't use that side very much. The refrigerated side has ample storage, bins and shelving and works well! The only draw-back that I've found is that the top shelf is too short, not able to accommodate large water bottles, etc.

RUN, RUN FAST AND HARD FROM THIS REFRIGERATOR! Was delivered 33 days ago and already the ice maker and water have broken! Went back to Lowe's as I wanted a replacement, to no avail. Their cutoff is 30 days, and I purchased 3 major appliances in 4 weeks, spending thousands of dollars! After researching, this is a known problem with this model. Been sitting on hold with Whirlpool service for over 30 minutes to schedule repair. I have always purchased Whirlpool, Maytag and Kitchenaid products for years and had great experiences. This one is a dud!

Pretty Good, 1 Major Disappointment

The unit cools and freezes well. The lighting is good and well placed. Shelving on the fridge side is flexible and offers ample space. The drawers are well sized. The bins on the door offer flexible spacing and can hold many items. The freezer spacing and shelving is a bit challenging. Since the freezer space goes deep, you have to constantly move items to get to those that are kept in the rear. Some kind of pull out drawrs in at least 2 or 3 shelves would be helpful. The door gaskets seem to provide a good seal when the doors are closed. The door handles need to be placed farther apart. When opening, several times my fingers got pinched between the two handles. The ice maker seems to work well. Although once, it stopped working...the repair person found the switch turned off. It apparently turned off on its own as I had no idea where it was located and the repair person had to remmove the ice bin to get to it??? Whirlpool missed the mark when it comes to the water dispenser. There is no reservoir to hold ta reasonable amount of H2O to cool it. They call the turbing entering the refrigerator a reservoir. NO WAY! This was my first fridge with a water dispenser and it cost me alot of money to have a water line installed. I am not exaggerating to say that the water seldom comes out chilled. Even in the morning when I dispense water it's as if I got it directly from the tap??? The ice maker and water dispenser take up too much room room in the smallish freezer. It needs to be redesigned and space must be provided for a water reservoir. Customer service through Costco is very good and responded promptly sending out a technician to try to address my issues with the unit.

I am unhappy with the external water nozzle as it drips down the front of the fridge and not into the tray . It is my understanding this is not adjustable

We are unhappy with several things. The water temperature is luke warm at best in the door dispenser. The ice maker seems very small.

I absolutely love my new whirlpool refrigerator. I especially like the water and ice feature, it is so easy and helpful. Keeping my food fresh and cool is simple. The shelves move easily and sorting and viewing my food is simple.

This model does not have adjustible shelving which I miss. The freezer is quite small. The cooling controls on the front by the water and ice dispencer is inconvenient when grandkids are visiting because they like to play with buttons. If I lock buttons then they cannot get water and ice. It is a nice fridge and keeps everything cold. Makes Ice pretty quickly which is a plus. I did get it because the price was great.

Overall nice refrigerator, ice dispenser lever is hard to get at being behind the water lever. One level for both water & ice would be a better idea, with a touch button to switch between water or ice.

Can't change the shelving. Ice and water buttons are to close you hit both at the same time water button is right in front very difficult should just be able to push a button to change from ice to water

The shelving is very limited as to placement. It isn't convenient to place taller items etc. So, as far as accessibility I would like to have more options for placing shelves. The ice/water area would be better if it had a deeper dish with a grate of some sort so if an ice cube falls out (which it does) the melted water doesn't drip down the door. I do like the fact that it automatically makes ice cubes as it becomes necessary to keep the bin full. No problems with the cooling/freezing.
